You may know that very loud noises can damages hearing, but did you know that sounds from everyday living can also responsible for hearing loss? These sounds are at your own home.

It is shocking that there are noises in our own home that damages our hearing ability. It’s a fact that exposure to any noise over 85 decibels can put you at risk of NIHL(Noice-Induced Hearing Loss). Such hearing loss is occurred due to the hearing of repeated noises in the home.

Some of the home appliances that we use every day produce noise more than 85 decibels which if repeatedly heard can damage hearing.

  Vacuum Cleaner:-           60 to 85 dB

  Blender:-                         80 to 90 dB

  Hair Dryer:-                     60 to 95 dB

 

Use such appliances repeatedly can cause NIHL. Such household appliances can slowly affect hearing ability at its worst.

Some precautions if taken can help in reducing the effect of such appliances on your hearing.

Today most of the home appliances come with audio outputs as how loud they can be while using, so while buying a new one it is easy to choose one which produces lower noise. This helps us to choose more hearing friendly appliances for the home.

We can protect our ears while using these appliances by using earplugs, noise canceling headphones, ear molds. Using this and other protective measures can reduce our exposure to noise while using louder appliances.

Regular hearing checkup, as well as hearing tests, can help you to find out hearing loss earlier and this results in the earlier solutions and prevents further loss in the future.
